When one thinks of Sonakshi Sinha, images of the actor gracefully draped in six yards spring to mind. Over the years, Sinha has come to be associated with her inherently Indian on-screen avatar, but IRL her style is wildly different. As the star slips into a curve-skimming bodycon from the Michael Michael Kors spring 2017 collection, she reveals to Vogue her lesser-known side, which is casual, laid-back yet seriously cool.
What do you like most about the collection?
It’s simple and understated yet strong and classy—something that girls today really go for. The black cold-shoulder dress is one of my favourite pieces. Also, I love the sneakers. I am obsessed with shoes—currently, I own about 400 pairs.
How would you describe your personal style?
Much like the collection, my personal style is casual and laid-back. Simplicity is very important. I would rather be underdressed than overdressed.
What’s the one style rule you always swear by?
Sometimes when you wear something, you instinctively feel that it’s not working but everybody around you is telling you that it looks great. Follow your instincts. Comfort is key. If you’re not comfortable in what you’re wearing, it will show instantly.
The label caters to the ultimate jetsetter. Where would you take these pieces?
I think the best part about the collection is that you can take it anywhere because all the clothes and accessories are wearable and comfortable.
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
The Maldives. I’m a complete beach bum. I love water, I love diving. Whenever I can, I plan these spontaneous diving and snorkelling trips.
